Position Overview

Blackpoint Cyber is seeking a strategic and visionary Director of Platform Engineering to lead the development and execution of its Unified Security Posture data platform, which powers the company’s data-centric cybersecurity solutions. This leader will serve as the single-threaded owner for the roadmap and operations of the cloud-based platform, including vendor integrations, developer and data tooling, identity, authentication, tenant management, and other core services.

This role will drive vision and execution across multiple engineering teams, working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, product leaders, and site reliability engineering partners. The Director of Platform Engineering will translate business and technical needs into clear strategies, oversee roadmap execution and service quality, and build a high-performing organization through strong hiring, mentorship, and technical leadership. As a highly visible leader, this person will also help establish company-wide operational excellence practices for instrumentation, incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive the platform roadmap aligned with product and business goals.

• Partner across the Product organization and SRE team to ensure platform security, reliability, and scalability.

• Lead the development of the data pipeline, integrating with Blackpoint’s endpoint agent and vendor data, including storage, tiered access, and query capabilities.

• Deliver platform services and public APIs supporting core functions such as tenant management, identity, and role-based access control.

• Lead platform tooling and APIs that accelerate AI/ML and business intelligence initiatives.

• Oversee developer productivity tooling, including CI/CD systems.

• Define the long-term vision for the data platform by implementing best practices in data architecture, modeling, and governance, while staying current on emerging technologies and trends.

• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and partners.

• Foster excellence in platform reliability, scalability, security, and software quality.

• Hire, develop, and grow a high-caliber team of platform and data engineers, scaling the team and organizational structure as needed.

• Drive the adoption of AI across the development lifecycle (AI DLC) to increase engineering productivity, accelerate delivery, improve software quality, and enable teams to build and deliver high-quality products more efficiently

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in software development, preferably in cybersecurity, including at least 5 years of people management experience leading multiple teams.

• Proven experience leading a Platform Engineering function at the Director level.

• 5+ years of experience working with large-scale AWS cloud solutions and technologies such as Postgres, Elastic, Redis, streaming data platforms, and ETL processes.

• Hands-on experience architecting and building complex data platforms and service integrations.

• Deep knowledge of CI/CD, production deployment at scale, and data pipeline orchestration.

• Demonstrated ability to drive high-impact initiatives and long-term strategic goals.

• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
