Vancouver Tech Jobs 2026: Who's Hiring, What Tech Jobs Pay, and BC's Pay Transparency Rules

Vancouver is one of Canada's main tech hubs, with offices of large US tech companies, local software firms and several game studios. On September 24, 2026, LANDTHATROLE listed 404 tech postings in Vancouver, or 7% of all Canadian postings, behind Toronto (1,799) and Montreal (898) (Tech Hiring Report). Vancouver Tech Employers in 2026

US and International Tech Companies

Several large US tech companies run engineering offices in Vancouver. In 2023, Amazon moved its first employees into The Post, the newest office in its Vancouver tech hub (About Amazon Canada, 2023). Microsoft's downtown Vancouver campus is home to product teams working in design, program management, data science and engineering (Microsoft Careers).

On September 24, 2026, Salesforce, Mastercard, Amplitude, Braze, Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies, and Xero all had open Vancouver tech postings on LANDTHATROLE.

Vancouver-Area Companies

Local employers with open tech postings on September 24, 2026 included Clio (legal software), Global Relay (message archiving and compliance), Arc'teryx (outdoor apparel, with software and data roles in North Vancouver), Article (online furniture), Klue and Traction Complete. Aritzia and the University of British Columbia also had tech roles open.

Game Studios

Vancouver and Burnaby are home to several game studios. EA Vancouver, Electronic Arts' studio in Burnaby, focuses on FIFA, NHL and UFC games (EA). 2026 Tech Salary Snapshot for Vancouver

Canada's Job Bank publishes wages by occupation (NOC code) and region using Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey. The figures below are hourly wages for BC's Lower Mainland-Southwest region, which includes Vancouver, last updated November 19, 2025, for the 2023–2024 reference period. The yearly median assumes 40 hours a week for 52 weeks (2,080 hours).

BC's Pay Transparency Act: Pay Ranges in Job Postings

Since November 1, 2023, BC's Pay Transparency Act has required employers to include wage or salary information in every publicly advertised job posting (BC Gov News, 2023). According to the Government of BC (guidance on job postings):

• The rule covers all employers with employees in BC, except federally regulated employers. There is no minimum company size.
• It covers postings on employer websites and on job boards, and jobs advertised outside BC if the position is open to BC residents, in person or remotely.
• BC doesn't limit how wide a pay range can be. "Competitive wage" doesn't count; a range such as "$40,000–$60,000 per year" does.
• Applicants can ask for pay outside the posted range, and employers can offer it.

Employers also can't ask job applicants what they were paid by other employers (Government of BC). Ontario added its own pay range rule on January 1, 2026; see our guide to Ontario's pay transparency rules.

What Makes Vancouver Tech Unique

1. A mix of US offices and local companies: Amazon and Microsoft run engineering offices downtown, alongside Vancouver-area companies such as Clio, Global Relay and Arc'teryx.
2. Game development: EA Vancouver in Burnaby and smaller studios such as Next Level Games and Blackbird Interactive employ engineers, designers and artists.
3. Pay in postings since 2023: BC required pay information in job postings more than two years before Ontario did, so posted ranges are a normal part of job hunting here.
4. Higher pay and higher rent: Job Bank's median for software engineers and designers is higher in the Lower Mainland-Southwest region than in Toronto, and so is rent (see the FAQ below).

It depends on what you need. Toronto has far more openings: 1,799 tech postings on LANDTHATROLE on September 24, 2026, against 404 in Vancouver. Vancouver has higher median pay for software engineers and designers ($62.50 an hour in the Lower Mainland-Southwest region, against $56.49 in the Toronto Region, according to Job Bank) and higher rent ($2,696 a month for a two-bedroom rental for new tenants in October 2025, against $2,547 in Toronto, according to CMHC). In October 2025, new tenants paid an average of $2,696 a month for a two-bedroom purpose-built rental in Vancouver, the highest of the seven major cities in CMHC's 2025 Rental Market Report comparison. At Job Bank's median for software engineers and designers in the region (about $130,000 a year), that rent is about a quarter of gross pay.
